Uwe Rosenbergs new game Atiwa explores the agricultural wonders of the African continent. Leading a family of fruit farmers, the players find that fruit bats - so called flying foxes, once considered to be fruit thieves only - are indeed useful for their farming endeavors. While it's true that the bats are eating the fruits from their trees, they also spread the seeds, overall helping to grow the amount of trees they can farm. This led to a symbiotic lifestyle between farmers and bats in which the farmers keep the bats as pets in order to grow their farms more quickly. However, the more bats, the more space they need... The players who will find the perfect balance between their bats and the growth of their farm will finally succeed and win the game!

• FRUIT BATS AND FRUIT FARMERS WORK TOGETHER: Fruit bats, once scorned and hunted as mere fruit thieves, are in fact incredibly useful animals, spreading seeds over large areas of the country. They help reforest fallow land and in the medium term improve harvests. This realization has led to a symbiotic cooperation between fruit bats and fruit farmers.
• STRATEGY BOARD GAME: Choose your actions carefully as you balance the needs of the community and nature. Acquire new land, manage your animals and resources and make your community prosper. The player who best balances the needs of their town and the environment wins.
• RESOURCE MANAGEMENT GAME: Place workers on action spaces and carry out their effects. Grow your town by building houses and adding new land. Collect resources responsibly to lessen the burden on the environment. Fruit bats fly and grow new trees.
• MULTIPLE PATHS TO VICTORY: Bats are kept as pets to increase the size of fruit farms more quickly. Tall trees are left as roosts, providing shelter for them rather than hunting them for their scant meat. However, if you have a lot of fruit bats, you need a lot of space. The perfect balance between fruit bats and the growth of the farm is the key to success and thus victory in this classic worker placement game!
