The Automatic Melting Point Range Apparatus employs advanced microprocessor technology to determine the melting point ranges of crystalline, powdered, and polymeric materials, aiding in sample purity assessment. It necessitates approximately 5mg of sample, uniformly spread on a glass slide and covered with a glass coverslip. The slide is positioned on a uniformly heated, round furnace and subjected to a user-defined heating profile. Precise temperature control ensures reproducible results within 1%. The unit features an automatic temperature safety cut-off if no melting points are detected 15°C above the expected melting point or if the oven reaches 315°C. The melting process is magnified, recorded, and viewed in real-time via a CCD camera. The sample's physical changes in relation to temperature are recorded, and the start/end of melting is automatically detected. A graphical representation of the entire process can be printed out for validation.
